• Cypress – Seal Beach Navy Golf Course (Military) - 5660 Orangewood Ave, Cypress, CA 90630, (714)527-4401. This facility offers an eighteen hole regulation course and a nine hole executive course. Both of these courses are strictly for military personnel and their guests. The Cruiser Course is an executive nine hole course. The fairways are wide, and the greens are small and fast. The Destroyer Course is very challenging because it has fourteen water hazards.
• Huntington Beach – Meadow Lark Golf Course (Public) - 16782 Graham St, Huntington Beach, CA 92649, (714)846-1364. This course features some rolling hills and many water hazards. The course is very tight, so you must keep an eye out for the golfers on adjacent holes. The greens are fast, short and very deceiving. At least half of the holes have sand bunkers incorporated into their designs.
• Huntington Beach – Sea Cliff Country Club (Private) - 6501 Palm Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92648, (714)536-7575. This course is close to the Pacific Ocean, so there is a lot of wind, particularly in the afternoons. The course has many oak trees lining its fairways. The signature hole is #18, a 498-yard, par 5, requiring an approach shot over a lake.
• Long Beach – El Dorado Park (Public) - 400 N Studebaker Rd, Long Beach, CA 90815, (562)430-5411. This older course has many trees lining its fairways. As a result, the fairways are narrow. In addition, water hazards (several lakes) come into play on many holes.
• Long Beach – Skylinks Golf Course (Public) - 4800 E Wardlow Rd, Long Beach, CA 90808, (562)421-3388. Skylinks is a fun and easy course. Most of the fairways are tree lined, but they are still somewhat open. However, if you wish to score well, you'll need to make some lengthy shots.
• Newport Beach – Back Bay Club (Public) - 1107 Jamboree Rd, Newport Beach, CA 92660, (949)729-1234. This hilly par 3 course overlooks the scenic Back Bay. Large palm trees come into play, but there is no water on the course. The greens are large and sloping.
• Newport Beach – Newport Beach Golf Course (Public) - 3100 Irvine Ave, Newport Beach, CA 92660, (949)852-8681. This eighteen hole executive course sits in a city environment and is fun to play. The greens are well manicured and there are minimal hazards. This is a great course for walkers, beginners, and for those who want to sharpen their short game skills.
• Santa Ana – Riverview Golf Course (Public) - 1800 W. Santa Clara, Santa Ana, CA 92706, (714)543-1115. This course has nice, small greens. There is a putting course and a lit driving range also available at this facility.
• Santa Ana – Santa Ana Country Club - Pictured (Private) - 20382 Newport Ave, Santa Ana, CA 92707, (714)545-7260. This mature course has many trees lining its fairways, but the landing areas are wide open. Water hazards (creeks and ponds) come into play throughout the course. The greens are mostly flat, however they are well bunkered and sometimes hard to read.
